Before এবং After দুইটি Independent Clause এর মধ্যে সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করে যেখানে একটি ঘটনার সাথে আরেকটি সংশ্লিষ্ট।
Before এর পূর্বে Past perfect tense হলে, পরবর্তী Clause এ past indefinite tense হবে।
যেমনঃ I had had my meal before you came.
After এর পরে Past perfect tense হলে, পূর্ববর্তী Clause এ past indefinite tense হবে।
যেমনঃ I had my meal after you had come.
অধিকাংশ প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরীক্ষায় Sentence completion (বাক্য সমাপ্তি) প্রায়ই থাকে। প্রশ্ন-বাক্যে এক বা একাধিক শূন্যস্থান থাকে, অপশনে থাকা শব্দ বা শব্দভাণ্ডার ব্যবহার করে তা পূরণ করতে হবে। প্রশ্নের অপশনে থাকা শব্দভান্ডার এবং শব্দগুলির মধ্যে সূক্ষ্ম পার্থক্য বিদ্যমান থাকে। এই শব্দগুলো থেকে বাক্যের সাথে সংগতিপূর্ণ ও উপযুক্ত শব্দ বা শব্দভান্ডার পছন্দ করে বাক্যপূর্ণ করতে হয়।
